Duality
Am I the only one living multiple lives in one?
I was thinking this morning about how I wear many hats and several are complete opposites. For instance, I am an author. That is an entirely different life than the one where I am a grandmother and spending time with my kiddos. I treasure that time.
They know I write books, but they aren’t allowed to read them yet (except for my oldest grandson). I can understand my daughters not wanting them to read my true story books because they reveal things about their grandmother they probably don’t need to know. But my latest historical fiction and some of my short stories would definitely be age appropriate for them. I keep hoping someday they’ll show an interest.
Then, there is the music part of my life where I interact with a whole different world of people and places. My daughter and son-in-law recently took a trip to Fredericksburg, Texas and while there, went out to the famed town of Luckenbach. They were telling me about how quaint and unusual it is and I surprised them when I said I’d attended many music festivals there. So, another aspect of duality.
Then, there is the me that reads tarot cards. I’ve been a student of metaphysics since the 1970s, but did some serious studying within the past fourteen years. I now read tarot cards for the public at a metaphysical store in Allen, Texas, The Mindful Mermaid and online through my website.
It’s interesting to look at it all as if looking at a puzzle with many pieces. I love every aspect of my life and would have a hard time choosing the part I like best. I feel as if all of it makes me a whole.
What about you? Do you see duality in your life? I guess in my case it’s more like a quadriad.

You aren’t alone. Along with mom and grandma, novelist and blogger, painting and playing piano round out my multiple selves.
Right off the top of my head, I’d say my duality is fiction writer and poet.
